Views, Views and more Views

Jodie A - 27th December 2022

I would have to say this the best house we have had the pleasure of staying in on all the years we have been visiting Lorne (paradise). So very clean and well laid out.

Very Comfortable home with sea views.

Stacey B - 24th February 2022

Lovely clean and modern home with sea and bush views. Very well equipped with everything you need and more. Bedrooms great with Comfortable beds and quiet at night. Dining table although lovely really only seats six people. Otherwise everything was perfect.🙂

Great location with brilliant views, hard to knock!

Splendid House!

JaneyP - 2nd February 2020

This property has the most splendid views and with two balconies to use, you were spoilt for choice. The house was very well equipped with everything you need on a family holiday, even extra toilet rolls! The beds & furniture were all comfortable, everything was clean and I would not hesitate to recommend The Octopus. However I would suggest the owners supply an umbrella for the outside table as it would have been lovely to have had more meals outside but it was just to hot to do so without protection from the sun.

Everything we hoped it would be

This property was everything we hoped it would be. Plenty of room for the extended family and great location. Would recommend.

Quiet location with amazing views

Thank you for having us to stay at your lovely home in Lorne. It has the most wonderful views and is so quiet and close to the national park for bush walking. We had a really lovely short stay.

Great house, beautiful views

Clean, well appointed and great indoor-outdoor living. We had fun playing the board games. Great location and generous departure arrangement.

Top house and location

Paula - 25th February 2019

Fabulous house for indoor/outdoor living. Superb views and well equipped to enjoy and relax.

Everthing's here

gxxh - 5th January 2019

What more could you want? There's a view, and 4 bedrooms, 4 TVs, a big living/kitchen area, upstairs and downstairs decks (BBQ on upper deck). The wi fi was good, there are two air-conditioners, and one of the bathrooms has a full-size bath. Theres plenty of crockery and cutlery. The house is within walking distance of everything - although the climb back from town is up a steep hill!

Perfect in every way!

DaveJ - 22nd November 2017

The location, amenities, view.....you name it! Perfect. From north Qld, we couldn't ask for a better introduction to Lorne and Victoria.

What a joy

Great Stay

We had a very pleasant week. The Octopus is very comfortable and very well equipped. The weather was much better than forecast so we were able to get some golf in as well as walking and exploring.

Back for sure!

We loved the Octopus! Will be back for sure. Thanks.

Super comfortable house with amazing views

Very enjoyable week here. Modern, comfortable and well equipped house. Good location and nice view. Lots of native birds fly past and sit on the balcony. Beds are comfortable.

Perfect for families

Kerri1974 - 20th September 2016

We stayed at the Octopus House for 3 nights in September. We had originally booked another house further along the Great Ocean Road but due to the floods we couldn't access that house. The wonderful staff at GOR Holidays worked very hard to find us another house. They suggested The Octopus. There were 9 of us in total. I cannot express enough how perfect this property is for families/friends wanting to holiday together. There is plenty of room. The second sitting area downstairs complete with a TV (and Foxtel) is perfect if you want some time to yourself or for the kids to go and watch a movie. As for the kitchen there is nothing you could want for. There is so much crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, pans and platters. The view is gorgeous and at night the lights of the pier and the old pub are just beautiful. It's an easy walk into town - yes the hill's on the way home are tough but it is a good work out and we needed it as we ate and drank our way through the weekend! I would highly recommend The Octopus to anyone considering spending time in beautiful Lorne especially if you enjoy self catering and spending time with family or friends under the one roof.

Breathtaking views, perfect location!

LisaK - 24th March 2016

I recently made a return trip to The Octopus accommodation in Lorne, after having been there previously 2 or 3 times with friends and family (from overseas). This time I attended with a few friends for a girls' weekend and I must say after not having been there for quite a few years I was glad the experience was just as good as I remembered. The unit was clean, comfortable and close to everything we needed. We got there on a Friday afternoon and were so comfortable we decided to stay in for dinner, rather than go out. We made use of the George Foreman grill and I noticed that the kitchen was even more well-stocked this time than I remembered. It actually had more gadgets available than I have at home, as well as all the basics that are sorely lacking in many other holiday units I've visited. No stone has been left unturned, that's for sure! The old modular lounge, while nice, had been updated, as had all of the bedding. The fourth bedroom had also been opened up (it had always been locked in previous visits as I think previous owners kept it private for themselves, which is fair enough), and had lovely, new furniture and bedding as well. The shower head in the downstairs bathroom was fantastic and as always, it was great to have a number of toilets, upstairs and downstairs, to choose from. Very convenient. The star of the show remains the fantastic views and close proximity to the golf course and forest just next to one of the side drives. I've been there in summer and winter, and the view always guarantees a breathtaking opportunity to see the sky and the ocean at its best. Yes, the walk back up the hill is still steep but after a good walk, shop and visit to one of the many great cafes, pubs or restaurants I actually looked forward to the opportunity for a good bout of exercise. The new cafe near the main road in, and island separating the road, gave us the opportunity to try a new cafe for brunch one morning, where we sat on a picnic table beside the beach while the staff brought us our coffee and food. Awesome addition to the Lorne experience! (I think they're called the Swing Bridge Cafe?!) I will definitely make sure my next visit to The Octopus will not be so long to organise, as I felt like I was visiting an old friend that hadn't changed over the years.....but had actually gotten better. Definitely give it a 5/5!
