Great Location, just a little dated...

The upstairs property affords some nice views, visiting bird life, and comfortable dwelling with all the facilities one needs for a longer stay. The living space is a little cramped for >5 people but cosy with gas heaters in the living area sufficient to warm up most of the house in a few hours. Whilst dated, the upstairs area is clean and usable with a great deck all around. The downstairs portion which is self contained with 1 bedroom unfortunately suffered from a musty smell. Needs Fixing!

My happy place

We have stayed here a couple of times,we love it. We are a family of 6 with two dogs. The view is great and the beach is close, the extra unit downstairs is great foe our 20 year old. We fish, walk, swim and just kick back. It such a great spot and it has a lovely warm and cosy feeling. Great in summer but we love winter better, walking on the beach and coming to the fire is amazing.

Feel good to stay here.

Great location

The upstairs space was gorgeous comfortable and had a great view... but the downstairs left a lot to be desired. There was a very offensive odour as soon as you opened the door. Not only that but the bathroom floor was a material that appeared less than hygienic. The real estate agent was fabulous and prompt had a plumber to the property who made temporary fixes re the odour. This property could be fabulous with a few small upgrades

Horrible missing

There’s couple of things not in the place: 1. Important one (((wifi))) 2. Dishwasher 3.towels 4.some of bedcovers was dirty . . .

The place was comfortable and in a good location, however it was not up to standard considering on arrival there was a few issues we had to deal with with little to no help from the hosts. Firstly there was a weird smell possibly left by the people who were just there before us. The dishes and pots were not washed properly by previous guests. The refridgerator didnt work and we had to turn it off for a night before it would start working again. The upstairs TV didnt have a remote so it was unable to be used. All these issues were reported to the staff at Great Ocean Road Holidays on Saturday at 4pm and it took them till 1pm on Sunday to reply with responses like "we sincerely apologise for the wet and dirty dishes, we will transfer this message to our manager and cleaning team." They offered equally unhelpful suggestions to fix the fridge issue and the remote, by that stage we had already had to fix all these issues ourselves and had taken the downstairs TV upstairs for the remainder of the trip. After expressing that I wasnt impressed with the aforementioned issues, they replied saying they appreciate me letting them know and that they would let the property owner know of the issues. They did ask if there was anything they could do for us to make the trip more comfortable, however realistically when paying for an Airbnb all you want is for them to get the basics right and not have to walk in and fix issues for them. Lovely spot in Marengo but wouldnt stay here again.

Perfection

Lovely, clean, comfortable home, with great views of the sea, in a perfect location. This is the 4th time we have stayed at Surf Reef and will be sure to do so again.

absolutely stunning!

We were 5 people and stayed 2 nights. There were enough space for us and good facility- board games, card games, essentials. We had amazing amazing time!

Comfortable & Cosy

We spent a long weekend in winter and enjoyed this house.While rooms didnt feel as big as pictures portray the house was very comfortable for 5 adults.We thought it very clean and had many extras.Happy to recommend in this price range.

Beach Life

Had an amazing weekend at Harrison Street! The house was lovely, clean and cosy! The view of the ocean from the house was incredible! Would definitely visit again :)

Good basic accomodation

We stayed here for a weekend away. The house is very basic but in a great location with views of the ocean! The second living area is not connected to the main part of the house. This was not described in the property description, which is a shame.

Great stay!

Terrific view, comfortable and clean. Loads of places to sleep! A good selection of books to browse too. The location was fantastic - out of the way - a quiet, dead end street - but oh so close to the Great Ocean Walk, with numerous paths to sandy and rocky beaches. We had some spectacular pink sunrises and deep red sunsets. It was windy when we were there and Marengo had a blackout, but that was fixed fairly quickly. The staff at the Real Estate Office were polite, friendly and professional, and handled our phone query about resetting the fuse box promptly and efficiently. The electric stove could do with an upgrade (it didn't heat up that well...or maybe I'm just too used to my quick gas stove, but everything else was A1. If you bring a dog in winter, if it's a small dog, think about bringing a kennel for it too as the balcony is secure but unprotected from the wind. A great stay, especially for nature lovers!

Shocking experience with estate agent

Having asked two weeks prior to stay by email if we could possibly check out a bit later Easter Monday - their next day email reply stated - these are exact words from Christine ``` Checkout is strictly 3pm after Easter stays``. We checked out at 1pm and they took $45 from the credit card I had used to pay the booking (not even the one given on Bond) No explanation as to why, given the above email response from them regarding check out time, nothing at all. My email asking why (showing them their email) fell on deaf (and clearly rude and very unbusiness-like) ears. I will never use them again .

Great Location, Bad Customer Service

Great Location in Marengo; The Accommodation is OK (3 stars) but Great Ocean Road Real Estate customer service is very average.

Wonderful Family Holiday

Four of us (two sisters, brother and niece) really enjoyed our stay in this lovely house at Marengo Reef. The great variety of parrots and other birds visiting the balcony were a real treat, especially for our niece from UK. It was a very short stroll to the headland walking trail and an easy walk to the beach.

Spectacular views

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway then look no further. From the lounge room, bedroom and deck you get spectacular ocean views. You are so close you can hear the waves as you drop off to sleep. If you like birds then prepare to be wowed. The native birds fly right onto the deck and have no problem getting up close. The house was clean on arrival and is quite welcoming. The gas log fire heater is good for the cold nights and really adds some charm. The beds are quite comfy and allow you to get a good nights rest. The unit dowstairs serves as the ideal teenage retreat. The only two negatives for me were the bathroom and kitchen in the main house. The bathroom really needs a make over and update and the lack of an oven really makes cooking for a family tricky. Apart from those two things loved the house, had an amazing holiday and would reccommend the house to others.
