Great group get away

Beautiful home with open spaces perfect for group stays. Balcony is spacious and perfect for a bbq. An outdoor heater would be perfect for the cooler evenings! House and linen was clean. Only issue was a leaking en-suite shower with leaked into the downstairs bathroom. Property managers reacted quickly to send out plumber. Job will require a little bit of time to organise so only had one bathroom but this was out of the owners control. Once fixed should be perfect again. Nice walk from property to local market and beach.

So much potential

Beautiful house that has not been maintained. We arrived with grass about 200-300mm high and garden not maintained. I thought, not a good first impression but let's not be negative. Tried to open the garage to park all the bikes and trailer, locked out to guests!! O...K. Walk inside, furniture identical to furniture we bought when we married in 1994. Downstairs bathroom locked (under renovation) we were not told. Beds look like they were leftovers from decades ago. Go upstairs, more of the same. Glasses, plates, cutlery all bits and pieces from previous houses of yesteryear. House sleeps 10 yet only set up to seat 6 at the small table. Deck not maintained, nor was the outside furniture. We paid a lot of money to stay here. We've stayed in much older places in Apollo Bay where the landlords had considered the comforts of the tenants. Sadly in this case, the pictures looked far better than the reality. I wouldn't normally complain but had to considering the price, I'm sorry to say that we won't be back. Such a shame.

Great location, needs some improvements

Pros: Amazing location, fabulous deck area with great views, kids loved the pool and the house was very spacious. Cons: House wasn't that clean on arrival, BBQ filthy and broken (which we replaced so there is now a useable BBQ), missing many useful essentials of a house - like towel rails in bathroom, clothesline, basic kitchen utensils (like a BBQ tool) and many things have not been maintained (like the vacuum cleaner was broken and could barely be utilised, the DVD players that only occasionally worked etc.). After a few days at the property we ran out of gas (so no hot water) and despite calling the emergency number, it took almost 24 hours for it to be replaced. Clearly these things (like the BBQ) were not checked before our arrival. The bunk beds are king singles and this was not advised so our single sheet sets did not fit the beds. The doonas are more covers and not actual doonas and some beds have only old dusty blankets. Not all beds had pillows. I recommend that if you stay at this property you BYO doonas and pillows as well as other linen. Overall, while the property was fine and the location fantastic, I wouldn't stay here again unless the above were rectified. Given the price per night I was expecting a property in excellent condition and it wasn't. I note that the visitors book in the property has the above recommendations being made since 2013 and they seem to have fallen on deaf ears. This is a shame, because with just a small amount of money expended, the property could easily get 5 stars.
