Golnar Khomami - 15th August 2023

an amazing cottage with all you need for a perfect holiday.

James Iwanuch - 15th August 2023

A great location up in the hills at the back of Wye. Due to the age of the house, it's extremely fresh in winter but the fireplace was the perfect antidote. The house had a good vibe to it and has obviously housed some great times over the years. A good range of books, games and toys for kiddos on offer and a great lounge space to facilitate. All in all, it was a solid stay.

Jane Shields - 15th August 2023

Lovely fireplace to help keep you warm, very quiet and private.

Mark Hoven - 20th May 2021

A cosy, homely place in the hills. We had a great time hanging there for the Great Ocean Road race. The place was beautifully presented, with thoughtful extras like a mohair throw rug on the couch, everything necessary to light and manage the fire, condiments in the kitchen, plenty of cooking utensils (we made lasagne, sausage rolls, and prepared a lovely roast) and a range of interesting books and toys for the kids in the bookcase. It was too wet on this particular weekend to spend time on the balcony but there was a reasonable deck and table with a great view of the ocean. Recommended.

Lovely location

Narelle M - 3rd May 2021

The property is very sweet, overlooking a gorgeous yard, and the bird life was a wonderful thrill, however the pictures of the house are a little misleading. We found the space to be cluttered and not as pictured on the site. For the money spent, I feel the bedding could do with an upgrade and the overall cleanliness of the house needs attention. The high chair and crib were unclean and there were certain touches- like laundry soap, that would be appreciated.

Hamish Reed - 11th April 2021

Lovely location in the trees. Fire is great in the colder weather. Good communication from the agent.

Cameron William Gill - 14th March 2021

Beautiful home with a lovely fire place, comfortable beds next to a lush forest, ocean views, so comfortable, close enough to the beach, could hear the waves at night.

Claudia Howcroft - 4th March 2021

Great place

Adam Cimino - 25th February 2021

Great position, 1 min walk to the beach with good views

Grace Mallinson - 7th February 2021

A great house for a quiet weekend getaway. Clean, and well stocked with all the basics we needed for our stay (linen and towels provided, and kitchen/cooking facilities with a well stocked pantry of oil/salt/pepper/cleaning supplies etc). Lovely location! Would definitely return here!

Imo Bell - 31st January 2021

The property is a lovey, cosy, quiet house atop the hill about 5-10 mins walk from the Wye River beach. The downside is the kitchen is not well stocked and has quite cheap equipment (eg knife handles falling off, coffee pot rusted). The main issue we had was with communication and check in / check out. The property is actually managed by a real estate in Lorne and you have to pick up and drop off the keys there, which is 25 mins drive away. A lockbox would make much more sense. They also message generic instructions for all the properties they manage which is confusing because you have to cross check it with the details in the listing. I think this is unprofessional and a bit lazy. They were also a bit rude and unresponsive to my requesting clarification. If I owned this property I would skip the estate agent and go with a local to help manage it!

Cherry Pehar - 13th November 2020

Fantastic value in a great location with a wonderful verandah deck with a forest view Short walk to the beach general store and fantastic pub with a great menu and view on the deck Highly recommend This comfortable and inviting it’ll get away with lots of fantastic homely touches

Andrew Buckis - 27th October 2020

This is a great house. Fully stocked kitchen and lots of toys for the kids. Perfect location up in the forest.

Hannah Gill KEY PROP - 18th October 2020

A beautiful & tranquil cottage.

Madeline Morris - 14th October 2020

Great little cottage walking distance from the shop and beach. The house was neat and tidy and there was firewood ready to go. Would recommend others to stay here but would note that the house is a little smaller than we expected although was perfect for the four of us!

Chris Rawson - 19th July 2020

Great properties. Kids loved the toys

Peaceful setting

Amelia - 10th March 2020

Our kids appreciated the toys, we appreciated the peaceful setting.

Perfect for a small group

Damaris - 10th March 2020

Amazing location, decent accomodation with everything you need, perfect for a small group

A great home

Paul - 10th March 2020

A great home which was just what we needed. Clean and comfortable with lots of nice little touches. A great option for anyone staying in the area

Peaceful and private

MarieLouise - 22nd January 2020

This cottage was perfect for our family. Ideally located within the bush, which made it peaceful and private, with views of the sea. Wye River walks are stunning and the sea was refreshing, but bring a wetsuit! Abundant wildlife too - echidnas, koalas, birds and reptiles. The house was very comfortable with everything we needed. Would love to come back one day

Best of both worlds

Michelle - 17th October 2019

Property was clean and well maintained, in a very quiet and green area. Loved the views of both trees and ocean.

Beautiful

Jenni - 5th August 2019

We stayed for 3 nights with our Labrador , absolutely loved it ! So relaxing and peaceful , everything you would need for a weekend ! Fully equipped kitchen , open fire , very comfortable bed and a very hot shower . Lots of extras , great range of cook books to read , and lots of games and toys for the kids. Only downside is leaving and driving back to Melbourne !

Great Location

Claire - 14th July 2019

'Great location, really enjoyed the fireplace and well equipped kitchen'

Lovely Home

KayM - 9th May 2019

lovely home with lots of light and a beautiful fire. Perfect for family or couples. We loved our stay and hope to be back again

Obsessed with the birds!

Shae - 19th November 2018

We loved every minute here. The property was really homely and well equipped with all we needed and more. The highlight was the numerous visits we had from local feathered friends: cockatoos, kookaburras, king parrots, wattle birds, currawongs all joining us on the balcony - wow! Can't wait to return.

Great cottage to stay

Jason - 6th November 2018

We had a wonderful time at this very nice cottage in Wye River. The location was brilliant, the facilities were awesome, and we had to fight amongst each other to score the very comfortable day bed by the window. Great place, will be certainly booking it again.

Very family friendly

Alicia - 2nd November 2018

We really enjoyed our stay at Fern Cottage. As a family with two little kids it was a perfect set up for us. Loads of toys, a cot and high chair and even a change mat (these things would not be a nuisance if you didn’t have kids as they were well located). The view from the living room was gorgeous and conveniently located to the pub and the cafe. the only negatives was that linen was not provided. We hired linen but there was a mix up with the sheets and we didn’t get enough (although the cleaner did offer to drive them down). It would be good to have some instructions on how to light the fire as we struggled being new to this. There was also no air conditioning although the fans were very powerful. Overall a highly enjoyable stay. We’ll come again.

A Cosy Weekend Retreat

Janey - 24th October 2018

We enjoyed our stay at Fern Cottage - loved the Day Bed in the lounge! A cosy cottage with a great log fire, plenty of kitchen crockery and utensils. The beds were comfy and it was great to sit out on the deck looking through the beautiful trees towards the ocean. Thank you for letting us take our beloved dog to enjoy Wye River with us. My only criticism would be that I would have liked a booklet about the cottage which may have saved me having a cold shower on arrival!

Family get away

Nicole27 - 17th October 2018

Our family of 5 had a lovely stay at Fern Cottage. Gorgeous bush setting, very clean and well appointed home. The beds were really comfy, and we enjoyed eating on the deck with views down to the ocean. Short walk down to the beach, general store and the pub. Loved everything about the stay and would love to come back again.

Cosy cottage

Rebecca - 11th October 2018

We loved our short stay at Fern Cottage. The upstairs rooms were extremely cosy. The wood fire worked really well and there was plenty of wood supplied which was good because we struck a couple of cold, wet days. It was only a short drive to the beach but very steep, so really couldn't be done with lots of gear like surfboards. The Wye general store and pub are both fantastic and have all you need plus more, even in the off season. The house had everything we needed. A bonus was the amazing array of bird life that came to visit on the deck. The only tips I could add for the house was to remember to turn on the hot water service when you arrive (there is a note on the table about it) and maybe bring your own toaster because the one there is tiny and couldn't toast our thick bread or crumpets. The house is on tank water and runs a pump , which didn't bother me as I'm live in a house that has the same arrangement. But there is a note about what to do if you have trouble with the pump. Overall, this is a great place to stay with a small group.

Loved it!

Mads - 18th July 2018

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home. Absolutely loved it!

Loved the house

Karen - 16th July 2018

We loved the house. Simple, comfy, cosy. Will keep it our little secret...no, we will spread the word! Thanks for the lovely hospitality (and the generous bottle of wine on arrival)

Great for families

Mathew - 16th May 2018

We had a wonderful stay with family visiting from interstate. The kitchen has everything you need and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax. We'd definitely stay again.

Highly recommended !!

Sally - 12th February 2018

We can highly recommend Fern Cottage and were so glad we chose it for our 2 week holiday. The owners left us a note and bottle of wine which felt very welcoming. The home is well represented on the internet (exactly as it appears in the photos) and was in a great location- near the beach, but far enough away to feel quiet and private. There is a short hill to climb which kept us feeling fit after enjoying the gourmet treats at the excellent General Store. The view from the lounge and veranda is lovely- with the ocean glimmering through the trees and looking out over a fern gully with large trees bringing a sense of space and peace. The bird life is prolific and entertaining. Inside, the home is very comfortable with fully equipped kitchen (you could even bake a cake!) and with a good library of books and games provided. There is everything you need if you have young children (cot, change mat, high chair, toys and children's books). It was very clean, bright and fresh. We were reluctant to leave Fern Cottage, even after 2 weeks. Wye river is a great place for a beach and bush holiday.

Fantastic Experience

Rob35 - 5th December 2017

My partner and I had an incredible couple of days here. Can't thank the hosts enough for making our first trip to Wye River so enjoyable. Beautiful cottage with everything we needed. A few minutes to the beach, pub and general store and a fantastic cosy fire at night. Even got to feed some rosellas off the balcony. Loved the upstairs bedrooms too - we felt like we were in a treehouse. Lots of thoughtful touches for children too, including a teepee! - we'll be bringing the kids next time. Thank you!

Beautiful Experience

Christine_B - 5th December 2017

Our family came back to Melbourne so refreshed after a few days here. Gorgeous place with views of the ocean, surrounded by gum trees. We really appreciated the thought that went into making the house such a pleasure to stay at - lots of books for children and adults, games and even a toy chest. The kitchen had everything we needed and the whole place was so incredibly comfortable. We're planning a return visit to Wye River and we'll definitely choose to stay here again.

Incredible Weekend Away!

Ruby - 4th December 2017

We cannot rate this beautiful cottage highly enough. The house was gorgeously prepared with lots of personal touches - including a bottle of wine on arrival! Photos just don't do it justice. The property was nestled among gumtrees with views of the ocean and only a few minutes walk to the beach. It's clearly been recently painted and refreshed and has the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. We'll be back ASAP. Loved it! Thank you!
